Over 40 people, primarily undergraduates, participated in this year's Rutgers mapathon. Volunteers contributed to Humanitarian Open Street Map project #15673 in support of efforts by Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) to aid refugees in West Darfur, Sudan. The project area is very rural and lacks detailed maps. Mapathon volunteers used their laptops to trace and identify structures on a satellite image to be added to the Humanitarian Open Street Map which MSF can use in their planning efforts.
