Undergraduate Geography major Anjanette Vaidya has been awarded the Andrew Hill Clark Prize for the most outstanding graduating senior in the Geography Department. The prize includes a membership in the Association of American Geographers for this year.
Anjanette, a double major in Africana Studies, not only demonstrated outstanding performance across the undergraduate geography curriculum, but was a leader on campus representing the interests of minority students and first-generation college students. The founder and president of Rutgers Students with Children, a support group for students across New Brunswick, she worked with the faculty union and deans to expand awareness of the challenges of students supporting children and other families on campus. She presented her activist work at the 2018 MaGrann Conference on Race, Place and Justice and was a voice for social justice and inclusive education throughout her tenure as a student. We wish her the best of luck.
