10th MaGrann Conference on Race, Place & Justice Conference

Rutgers Geography hosted its tenth MaGrann Conference on March 22-23, 2018 on the theme of Race, Place and Justice. Inaugurated in 2003 thanks to a generous endowment from Geography alumnus Mark MaGrann, the department runs a biennial forum of global environment, development, or urban challenges

Some of the most compelling scholarship in Geography and related fields today combines understandings of the spatial dimensions of social justice with place-based dynamics of race. This year’s MaGrann Conference featured interdisciplinary presentations by scholars, activists, and scholar-activists from Rutgers and other institutions whose work brings empirical examples together with interdisciplinary scholarship to address the intersections of race, place, and justice in diverse contexts throughout our world.
