Departmental Event - Mapathon for Humanitarian Relief
Thursday, November 15, 2018, 02:00pm - 05:00pm
Contribute your time to help with NGO efforts on the ground in a crowd-sourced, humanitarian mapping project. We will provide geospatial data to OpenStreetMap to aid volunteers working to contain an Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. There is a severe lack of up-to-date and detailed maps in this area. Mapping will involve remote tracing of roads and infrastructure in the DRC and neighboring Uganda.
No mapping experience or knowledge is necessary. Training will be provided.
Come at any time during the afternoon (2-5pm).
Please bring a laptop.
Pane Room (first floor) in Alexander Library, College Avenue Campus (opposite the glass-wall elevator doors)
