Students, staff, and faculty helped foster global humanitarian action at the Rutgers Mapathon November, 19th.

Held on GIS Day during National Geography Awareness Week, MAPATHON brought together volunteers to digitize satellite imagery of northern parts of Côte d’Ivoire to improve the Open Street Map of that region. In these areas , Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) has been running projects to assist refugees from Burkina Faso. Better maps will help the MSF team to reach communities in need of support.

The event was co-sponsored by Rutgers Libraries and the Department of Geography.
