Why You Should Care About Low-level Clouds Over the Oceans

Dr. Mark A. Miller is Professor of Atmospheric Sciences at Rutgers University and an internationally recognized expert in cloud physics, atmospheric radiation, and marine boundary layer clouds. He helped pioneer cloud radar technology and published foundational work demonstrating how radar observations and convection-resolving models can reveal cloud dynamics and the structure of marine stratocumulus. Dr. Miller has played a central role in the U.S. Department of Energy’s Atmospheric Radiation Measurement (ARM) Program, including eleven years as Site Scientist for the ARM Mobile Facility, leading major field campaigns in regions such as West Africa, China, and the Amazon Basin, and three years on the Eastern North Atlantic Site Science Team. He has authored 76 publications, and his work has been cited more than 6,400 times.
